If I could put 10 stars I would. The best decision I ever made was reaching out to Ms. Botchis. I knew from my first conversation with her that I finally had someone who understood what I was going through as a mother of a child with special needs and would help me get the help my son needed. She has a very calm manner, a stark contrast to the pushy arrogance of several other lawyers I had spoken to before Ms. Botchis. She was very thorough in going back through my son's records and opened my eyes to exactly what the issues were that I wasn't even aware of. There were things as far back as 1st grade that were ignored that I did not even know! She was at every IEP meeting, and for the first time I felt HEARD and she gave me a VOICE. I was just spinning my wheels before Ms. Botchis entered the room. Nothing got past her. I did not even realize how often the issues I would bring up were being side stepped, but Ms. Botchis caught it every single time. What was especially amazing is she always let me talk. It was never a situation of just letting her handle things, (and by the time I called her I was READY to let her just handle things!). She would take control back of conversations and give me the floor. She truly gave me the voice in the meetings. She made sure I was heard and reinforced whatever I said with her un refutable knowledge of my child's records and the law. I felt VALIDATED. And she knew what was possible. That was especially impressive. She knew the school could have been doing so much more to help my son and was choosing not to. At the end of this journey, she got me the help my son needed and I'm left with an even better understanding of how to continue supporting my son through the remainder of his high school years.
